The Louvre
The Louvre Abu Dhabi isn't just a museum; it's a journey around the world and through time. This world-class destination focuses on cross-cultural interaction, weaving together the universal story of human creativity that links civilizations, eras, and places.
You can explore a breathtaking collection of treasures from ancient archaeological finds to masterpieces of contemporary art, spanning the entirety of human history.
Stunning Architecture
The architecture of the Louvre Abu Dhabi, designed by Pritzker Prize winner Jean Nouvel, is a visionary blend of traditional Arabian concepts and state-of-the-art modern engineering.
Inspired by a classical Arab medina (city) and floating seemingly on the water of Saadiyat Island, the complex is unified beneath a vast, 180-meter-wide dome.
This silvery, intricate latticework is composed of 7,850 geometric "stars" layered eight times, creating a captivating and dynamic microclimate below.
As the sun moves, light filters through the perforations, producing the museum's signature effect, the "rain of light," which recalls sunrays passing through the palm fronds of an oasis and reduces heat gain across the white, low-rise gallery buildings.
