The Tourism Development and Investment Company (TDIC) is the master developer behind the transformation of Saadiyat Island into one of the world’s most exciting destinations.
Masterplan
Throughout every step of the development process, TDIC, the master developer of Saadiyat Island, is carefully adhering to an environmentally sensitive philosophy.
Working closely with scientific and environmental partners, Saadiyat Island’s natural mangrove forests and turtle habitat will remain protected, and strict guidelines are being followed to ensure developments do not adversely affect the surrounding environment.
Cultural
Saadiyat Cultural District is the region’s biggest arts hub. It includes Zayed National Museum, Guggenheim Abu Dhabi, Louvre Abu Dhabi and Performing Arts Centre. This new and exciting destination engages with visitors through a diverse collection of artistic programmes.
Inspired by the dynamic of flight and the feathers of a falcon, the design of the Zayed National Museum reflects Sheikh Zayed’s love of falconry and creates an iconic symbol for the nation.
Hospitality & Leisure
Saadiyat Island is growing into a world class leisure and tourism hub which will showcase Abu Dhabi to the world.
Designed by golfing legend Gary Player, the Saadiyat Beach Golf Club is the regions first beach front course.

Tourism Development & Investment Company (TDIC), the organization behind Saadiyat island, is committed to the delivery of the Saadiyat Cultural District museums, including Zayed National Museum, Louvre Abu Dhabi and Guggenheim Abu Dhabi, which are strategic components of the Abu Dhabi Government's vision for the Emirate.

TDIC's initial plan was to open all these museums between 2013-2014; however, due to the immense magnitude of the work associated with the development of such consequential projects, the company has decided to extend the delivery dates. This will ensure that quality is not compromised, and allow each establishment the time needed to create its own identity on the local and international cultural stage.

TDIC can confirm that this necessary review will only have a moderate impact on the delivery timeline of the museums. The company is currently working closely with its valued partners on the creation of the new delivery timeline and looks forward to announcing this in due course.

Significant progress has already been made on the museums, including finalised and detailed architectural designs, and all foundation and piling work. The acquisition of the vast art collections that will be housed in each venue is already taking place, as well as the training of the expertise that will operate each institution.
