ABOUT THE ARCHITECT
Pritzker-Prize winning firm Foster + Partners, under the direction of Lord Norman Foster, designed the Zayed National Museum following an international design competition featuring twelve leading architectural firms from ten different countries.
“Architecturally, the aim has been to combine a highly efficient, contemporary form with elements of traditional Arabic design and hospitality to create a museum that is sustainable, welcoming and of its place.”

ABOUT THE DESIGN
The design of the museum draws inspiration from falconry, a powerful symbol in the UAE and part of its cultural heritage and way of life, with five towers reminiscent of the wing tips of the birds. The building is designed to minimise energy usage by incorporating natural ventilation and lighting in the five towers using heat exchange technologies.
