Outside The Museum

On 25 November 2010 and under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, the design for the Zayed National Museum was officially unveiled by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai and Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom.

The Zayed National Museum’s distinctive towers are reminiscent of the wing tips of the falcon - a powerful symbol of the rich cultural heritage of the UAE. The building is designed to minimise energy usage by incorporating natural ventilation and lighting in the five towers, and using photo-voltaic panels and heat exchange technologies. Designed by Pritzker Prize winning architect Lord Norman Foster.

The Zayed National Museum will be surrounded by a beautifully landscaped garden where landscaping, planting and installations will explore key moments in the life of Sheikh Zayed and his transformation of the UAE.
