His Excellency Sheikh Sultan Bin Tahnoon Al Nahyan, is Chairman of both TDIC and its sole equity stakeholder Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority. He has been personally involved in progressing and safeguarding the emirate’s tourism assets in line with the nation’s ambitious diversification and development strategy. Sheikh Sultan also serves as Chairman of Abu Dhabi National Exhibitions Company, and the Abu Dhabi Authority for Culture and Heritage.
He has been honoured with the American Federation of Arts’ ‘Cultural Leadership Award’ for his role in personally spearheading the development of Saadiyat’s Cultural District, including the Zayed National Museum, Guggenheim Abu Dhabi Museum and Louvre Abu Dhabi.
His Excellency is also a Board Member of the Abu Dhabi Environment Agency and Etihad Airways, the national airline of the UAE, and recently became a member of the Executive Council of the Government of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. He is an Undersecretary at the Court of the Ruler´s Representative for Abu Dhabi’s Eastern Province, and was formerly Chairman of the Al Ain Economic Development and Tourism Promotion Authority. Sheikh Sultan is patron of the Middle East Council of the Urban Land Institute – an international, non-profit research and educational organisation catering to professionals in land use and real estate development.
Sheikh Sultan qualified as an architectural engineer from the UAE University, and holds an MA in Economic Studies, with a major in International Relations from Tufts University, USA.
