Corporate Social Responsibility

TDIC's Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) was underpinned by the establishment of the company's own dedicated CSR Committee in 2011.

Worker Welfare

Worker welfare on Saadiyat is of high importance to the island’s main developer, TDIC. So much work has been done to ensure that workers on TDIC projects on the island live and work in healthy, safe and respectable conditions.

CSR initiatives include:

  • Environmental Campaigns

TDIC's Environmental Services team regularly organises events to help clean up Saadiyat, while at the same time spreading the word and raising awareness about the importance of preserving our environmental community as a whole.

For two years in a row, the company has participated in the annual 'Clean Up UAE' campaign organised by the Emirates Environment Group. The event brought a lot of people from the wider Abu Dhabi community together to clean up of the shores of Saadiyat Public Beach.

  • Medical Contributions

CSR work has also stretched to include the medical field, where TDIC  donated an ambulance to the Red Crescent Authority. The company has also arranged for the Abu Dhabi Blood Bank to visit TDIC's headquarters, giving the largest number of employees an opportunity to participate in a blood donation drive.

  • English Literacy Programme

In 2012, the English Literacy Programme was launched at the Saadiyat Accommodation Village to help improve the English of the construction workers residing at the community. Organised and taught by staff volunteers, the classes have been received with great enthusiasm and have witnessed great success. To date, a total of 90 workers have graduated from the programme. To celebrate their achievement, a special ceremony is held for all participants who had successfully completed the course.

Over 50 students have graduated through the Sir Bani Yas Education and Training Centre, taking a course for the use of the English language with focus on work-related topics. It is regularly to hold book donation drives to help build the workers' library at the community. An internal newsletter is also published and distributed throughout the Saadiyat Accommodation Village to highlight the many activities that take place at the Village and to share residents' stories.

  • Art and Cultural Awareness

One of Saadiyat's main projects is the development of the Saadiyat Cultural District. This highly impressive development will include world-class museums and performing arts centres, which will result in a truly international cultural platform for people from all walks of life. Today, the Cultural District with its established venues - Manarat Al Saadiyat and UAE Pavilion - has played host to international exhibitions and cultural events from around the world, making art, in its various forms, accessible to all visitors and residents of Abu Dhabi.
